Following the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for 3rd International Yoga Day Celebration, NSS Wing and Sports Division of GNA University organized Yoga activities at its campus. Around 100 GNA’S NSS Volunteers and faculty participated in the yoga activities.
The event was organized in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. Sh. Haridev, Sr Member, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan said that one should regularly perform ‘asanas’ to get spiritual and medical benefits out of these. He also stressed that yoga postures and exercises are very important for all of us in this hectic world to reduce stress. Ms Swapanpreet – Tehsildar, Sh. Anil Kochar, Sh Jagya Dutt, Yoga Trainers, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prem Kumar, Vice Chancellor, GNA University said that India is the home of Yoga where it was practiced over centuries. He urged students and faculty to make the practice of Yoga an integral part of their life as it provide mental and physical strength. He expressed his happiness to see that the employees of GNA University have participated enthusiastically to remember the International Yoga Day.
Mr Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro Chancellor, GNA University conveyed his best wishes to all on International Yoga Day and congratulated NSS Division and Sports Division of GNA University to organize such an event.
Continuing, S. Malkiat Singh Raghvotra, Ex-Mayor, Phagwara, congratulated the and stressed that there is a need to be always with the best health and lively appearance and for achieving these traits, Yoga exercises are the useful tools to provide cheerfulness and peace from within.
Promoting the International Yoga Day, GNA’S NSS Programme Officer, Mr Varinder Singh Rana and Dr Mohd Salim Javed – Associate Director of Sports, congratulated all the participants and urged others to follow valuable and beneficial Yoga practices.
