GNA University, Phagwara celebrated 68th Republic Day to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the country’s constitution in 1950.
Pro Chancellor – S Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Vice Chancellor – Dr Prem Kumar, Registrar – Mr. Sunil Sarad, Deans, HOD’s, staff and students were present to attend the colorful function. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at 1030 hrs in university’s campus which was decorated with balloons and tricolor, and the flag was unfurled by the Pro Chancellor and Vice Chancellor and the celebration was followed by singing of the Nation Anthem.
Dr Prem Kumar spoke about the freedom struggle, the constitution and its salient principals. He also congratulated the students on the occasion of Republic Day and asked them to believe in themselves, aim high and contribute to the progress of the nation.
To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the campus, and many activities were planned in the premises. All staff members and students were present in the large number, to salute the Mother land and our tricolor. The university echoed with patriotic fervour as the children sang patriotic songs as a tribute to soldiers, and even the children and faculty wore tri-colored clothes to mark the occasion. Besides songs and dances, specially choreographed for the occasion, plays on social themes like ‘Save the Girl Child’ were also staged.
