Press Note on World Tourism Day
Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University celebrated World Tourism Day on September 23rd, 2015. The event was organized with the theme “1 Billion Tourists and 1 Billion Opportunities” given by United Nations World Tourism Organization to aware and sensitize the students towards current global tourism issues. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Harmit Singh, CMD, Cozy Travels and Chairman, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh Chapter. Mr. Navien Kumar Nanchahal, Ex. Principal Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Chandigarh was the guest of the honor on the occasion. The guests were received and honored by Dean Academics Dr. Govinder Flora and Mr. Varinder Singh Rana, Head, Faculty of Hospitality. Mr. Sunil Sarad, Registrar, GNA University was also present during the occasion and motivated the endeavours of the students and faculty. Both the guests highlighted various opportunities in the Tourism sector for new students. On the occasion, the GNA University students showcased the visual presentations of Cultural, Political and Economic values of top five major tourist destinations of the world namely France, USA, Spain, China, and Italy. Students of Faculty of Hospitality also displayed International food buffet with sumptuous and mouthwatering delicacies to the audiences. A Photo competition was also organized in which more than 60 entries were received and a panel of judges declared three best photos related to the theme of the World Tourism Day. An audio video presentation on Incredible India was also delivered by students of Faculty of Hospitality. S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro Chancellor, GNA University appreciated the efforts of the students and the faculty of Hospitality in conducting the event with enthusiasm and encouraged them to achieve newer heights in the future.
