Associate Professor of English
Dr. Narinder K. Sharma is an accomplished scholar of the English language and literature. He is currently working as an Associate Professor of English in the School of Liberal Arts at GNA University in Phagwara. Dr. Sharma, with a PhD in English from Guru Nanak Dev University and an M.Phil. degree from H.P. University, has a distinguished career of 19 years in teaching, research, and academic administration.

Dr. Sharma has made major contributions to the knowledge domains of language and literature through his specialisation in Indian Writing in English, 20th-century women’s writing, literary theory, phenomenology, and ELT. His PhD thesis, titled "Interpreting Duality: A Study of Selected Fiction of Anita Desai," demonstrates his profound research acumen to delve into intricate philosophical concepts, having a significant impact on fields such as dualism and diaspora studies. Currently, Dr. Sharma's research delves into Race, Diaspora, and Postcolonial studies. This highlights his commitment to exploring the socio-political underpinnings of literature and its role in shaping cultural identities, with special reference to Indian English Writing and Punjabi literature in translation, exploring how cultural and linguistic transitions impact the representation of identity and Otherness in cross-cultural contexts.
His roles as Associate Editor of Pragati's English Journal and Chief Editor of The Literati clearly demonstrate Dr. Sharma's exceptional editorial skills. In these roles, he continuously upholds and promotes rigorous standards of literary research. His participation in academic governance, such as his membership on the Board of Studies in Communicative English and Foreign Languages at IKG-PTU, Kapurthala, foregrounds his dedication to improving the educational curriculum and promoting academic success. He has also played a crucial role in administrative positions such as Deputy Dean (Academics), Coordinator (NAAC), and Nodal Officer (NBA) at the DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jalandhar.
Dr. Sharma, a highly skilled author and researcher, has successfully authored, co-authored, and edited seven books and over 45 research papers in prestigious publications recognised by Web of Science, Scopus, and UGC-approved/CARE-listed journals. His active engagement in both national and international conferences, together with his position as a mentor to Ph.D. and M.Phil. students, demonstrates his commitment to promoting research output in the fields of language and literature. His efforts to arrange literary seminars and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) at the national scale also demonstrate his dedication to enhancing academics. He nurtures a keen desire to keep inspiring his peers and students through his unwavering commitment to education, research, and community service.
